Evaluate your Action Steps for Effectiveness and Joy
After you’ve done a particular action step for 90 days you will have reprogramed your genes and hormones to either better serve you or sabotage you.
Remember, there’s a second tab on your Action Step Organizer progress tracker where you can put each action step, the date you start it, and it will generate the date that is recommended to review it for effectiveness and joy. After this review date is generated it is a good idea to set a phone or computer calendar alert to sit down and go through the entire process laid out for you on this progress tracker to review your action steps.
Many times you might need to wait a bit longer because you’re waiting for blood test results or body composition testing results to have the objective data to quantify a particular action step’s effectiveness.
The elements to think through are the following:
Did you enjoy the action step (yes or no)? It is important that you enjoy the process, because your action steps are a daily part of your life and who you are.
What quantifiable goal-specific progress did you experience? This is where you’ll put any nerdy blood, body comp, sleep, blood sugar, fitness, etc. metric that you were tracking that you care about.
What other wins did you experience? These are the subjective things that might be on a 1-10 scale (i.e. average energy, average stress, mental things, emotional things, money saving wins, free time wins, compliments from others, aligns with your core values, shopping)
How would you modify the action step going forward to make it easier, more enjoyable, more aligned with your core values?
How would you upgrade this action step to make it more challenging and give you even greater progress?
Now What?
You’re going to choose to abandon this action step/ delete it from your action step organizer if it was awful, there’s no way to modify it to be easier, more enjoyable, or more effective.
You’re going to write down the newly modified or upgraded action step if it was terrific as a new item on your action step organizer and on your Monitoring your progress tabs completing all of the fields, generating a new review date, and marking that on your calendar so that you keep getting measurable benefit/maintain your progress for years to come.
